We are very happy to welcoming Alef!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Alef Dos Santos, our new Kempe Postdoctoral Fellow, to the Yeşilbaş Lab. Dr. Dos Santos specializes in astrobiology, focusing on extremophiles and their potential for life beyond Earth. His research includes studying microorganisms from extreme environments on Earth, such as thermal areas, to understand their survival mechanisms and potential as models for extraterrestrial life. He also uses laboratory-based simulation chambers to mimic outer space conditions, exploring the molecular mechanisms that support life in extreme environments.

We are excited about the innovative perspectives and contributions he will bring to our team. He will work on the cyanobacteria growth in Mars analogue soils under Mars-like conditions using vibrational spectroscopy in our group. Welcome, Dr. Dos Santos!
